CDS's roller configurations include these forms. Your drawing establishes the dimensions, construction and machining requirements for the quote.
Outside profile, bore and end features
Rollers provide rotating contact with a product or belt. The component drawing specifies the surface profile and the features to be machined at its center and ends.
- Outside profile defines the roller body and working face.
- Bore is the opening through its center.
- End recesses are specified separately from the through bore.

- Outside diameter and face
- Define the face length and cylindrical, crowned, tapered or other required profile. Grooves and additional features need their own dimensions and locations.
- Bore and end recesses
- Specify the bore, steps, bearing seats or other recesses in the roller body. Required tolerances and surface finishes belong with those features.
- Dimensional relationships
- Identify any required concentricity, runout and face relationships on the drawing. Distinguish the machined body from separate shafts, bearings, bushings or end hardware.
Reproducing an existing roller
An existing component can start a replacement request when the drawing is missing. Old prints, part numbers and known dimensions help identify what needs to be made.
Document the roller body
CDS offers reverse engineering of existing parts. Mark worn outside surfaces, damaged bores, repaired ends or other features that may no longer retain their original dimensions.
A sample may not establish the material or every required dimension. Provide available records and identify unknown requirements for clarification before manufacture.
Repeat a previous order
Use the current part number, revision and previous CDS order reference when available. Identify each roller profile and quantity separately.
Specify the material and component supplied
Provide the required plastic, exact grade, controlled brand or filler, and any permitted substitutions. CDS confirms the material and machining scope for the quotation.
A roller body, sleeve and complete assembly are different supply requests. Identify the machined component you need and any separate hardware; shaft, bearing and assembly supply require confirmation.

Special grade and documentation requirements
If the specification calls for a detectable or static-control grade, include the exact designation and required records with the inquiry. A general plastic name or color does not establish those properties.
Food-contact, electrical and detector requirements need their own documentation. CDS confirms the requested grade and document availability for the part.

Part definition
Part number and revision; outside diameter, face length and profile; bore, recesses and end features; required tolerances, finish and dimensional relationships. State whether an existing part is available.
Material and records
Specified plastic and exact grade, required brand or filler, permitted substitutions and required material or inspection documents. Identify worn or unknown features in a replacement sample.
Order details
Machined body, sleeve or other component required; quantity by profile, repeat needs, requested timing and previous CDS order reference, if available.
