OEM equipment

Machined plastic components for the next stage of your OEM program.

CDS provides CNC milling and turning of engineered plastics in Aurora, Illinois. Work can begin with a single replacement, prototype, pilot quantity or recurring production requirement, subject to review of the component and program.

Your controlled drawing, specified material and acceptance requirements define the component CDS will quote and machine.

Shop and documentation

Qualify the shop against the part.

The equipment establishes a starting point for supplier review. Part size, feature access, material, quantity and acceptance requirements determine whether the work fits.

6

CNC mills

Four YCM and two Fadal machines.

5 + 1

Turning equipment

Five CNC turning centers plus one engine lathe.

Full material traceability and quality documentation upon request.

This offer applies to OEM equipment work. Confirm the exact records, inspection requirements and delivery timing with Quality and Documentation before treating them as included in the order.

Milling and turning equipment provide shop context; the component still needs individual review.

From development to repeat work

Machining for prototypes, initial quantities and repeat orders.

The first part and a recurring order may have different purposes. Your approval requirements determine what must be established before moving forward.

  1. 01

    Prototype or development

CDS machines the customer-specified prototype. Your engineering team evaluates its fit and performance before approving the next revision.

  2. 02

    First article, if required

Specify the part inspection and submission records required for your approval. CDS confirms the scope available for the order.

  3. 03

    Pilot or initial quantity

Use the controlled drawing and revision, required quantity and acceptance criteria for the initial order.

  4. 04

    Recurring or revised work

Order against the approved drawing and revision. Identify changes and required records before the next machining run.

Program stages and first-article records are agreed for each order. Customer approval remains separate from machining the specified part.

Component definition

Geometry, material and interfaces define the work.

A bracket, wear or bearing surface, valve body or manifold plate, spacer, bushing or shim has to work with the surrounding equipment. The part name alone does not define that fit.

Faces, pockets and contours

Milling is relevant to drawing-defined faces, pockets, slots, patterns and contours. Geometry and feature access need review with the exact material.

Round parts with milled features

Turning applies to geometry organized around an axis. CDS also has a twin-spindle, fully live-tooled setup for round parts with milled operations in one cycle, subject to project fit.

Machine the material on your drawing.

CDS can review acetal, UHMW-PE, PTFE, nylon, PEEK or polycarbonate machining requests against the customer drawing. Identify the exact grade, required brand or source, and any approved alternatives.

Your engineering team selects the material and establishes the component design. CDS confirms the specified grade's availability and the feasibility of machining the required features.

Datums, mating features and assembly fits belong to the same controlled component definition.

A revision can change more than one feature.

A changed interface, material callout or operating condition can affect the next part's requirements. Keep the current drawing, critical features and acceptance criteria together so the quoted component matches the stage being reviewed.

OEM machining quote

Quote the part on your current drawing.

Supply the approved manufacturing definition and order requirements. CDS reviews machining feasibility; design development and equipment validation stay with your organization.
