Custom plastic bearing blocks

Bearing and pillow blocks machined to your part requirements.

CDS machines custom plastic bearing blocks from drawings or physical samples. Send your current drawing, specification or existing block for new-part production, replacement machining or a repeat order.

For the sleeve inside a retained housing, see Custom Plastic Bushings.

The bore and mounting features identify the block on the manufacturing drawing.

The block features CDS machines

The bore, mounting face and hole pattern identify the block on your drawing. Their specified dimensions and relationships form the machining requirements.

Bore, mounting features and center height
  1. Bore is the opening machined through the block.
  2. Mounting holes are located and dimensioned on the drawing.
  3. Center height is the distance from the mounting face to the bore axis.

Conceptual front view of a block. Dashed lines identify through-hole locations. The customer drawing specifies the actual geometry, dimensions, material and tolerances.

Bore and center height

The bore diameter, its location above the mounting face and any steps or recesses distinguish one block from another. The drawing provides the required sizes, tolerances and surface finish.

Mounting holes and threads

CDS can machine mounting features, including holes tapped directly into a plastic bearing block. Hole positions, thread callouts and depths need to match the current specification.

Complete block or insert housing

A block may have a direct bore or a seat for a separate sleeve or bearing. Identify the plastic component to be supplied and any additional parts included in the request.

Include the required solid or split construction on the drawing. CDS confirms the machining scope for the specified block and material.

Replacement bearing blocks

An existing block can provide a starting point when the original drawing is unavailable. A previous drawing or spare may preserve information missing from a worn part.

Machining from a drawing

Use the latest approved revision for the replacement. If your engineering team has changed the bore, mounting pattern or material, identify that revision so it can be quoted and manufactured correctly.

Working from an existing block

CDS offers reverse engineering for existing-part replacement. Photos, an old print, known dimensions and the physical block can help document the component to reproduce.

Mark worn or damaged areas. A worn bore or mounting face may no longer show the original dimensions; missing requirements need clarification before manufacture.

The specified plastic and grade

Use the material callout from the drawing or purchasing specification. A resin name, modified grade and proprietary product name can carry different requirements; send the complete callout and any permitted substitutions.

If the material of an existing block is unknown, identify it as unknown. Appearance alone does not establish its grade.

Documentation for your order

Include required material records, inspection documents or drawing-specific acceptance requirements with the inquiry. CDS confirms what can be supplied for the quoted work.

Request a quote for your bearing block

Send the manufacturing requirements you have. CDS will confirm the part scope, material availability and quotation details.
