Identify the specified groove profile
Wire-rope sheaves and non-toothed V-belt sheaves have different groove shapes. The part drawing must identify the actual profile and dimensions required.

Identify the specified belt section or profile standard, groove dimensions, groove count and face width. Overall diameter alone does not define a replacement sheave.
- Rounded groove requires its specified radius, depth and rim profile.
- V-groove has its own specified section and dimensions.
- Bore and hub define the center features of the wheel.

Bore, hub and replacement dimensions
The drawing defines the bore, hub width, any keyway or bearing recess and additional features. Identify separate bearings, bushings and retained hardware when confirming the machined component to be supplied.
For an existing-part replacement, reverse-engineering review can help document the component. Worn grooves, damaged bores and repaired features may not preserve their original dimensions.
Provide any old drawing, part number or reliable measurements. Missing dimensions and material requirements need clarification before manufacture.

Part definition
Part number and revision; groove profile and count; overall diameter, widths, bore, hub and additional features. Include required tolerances, finish and the current drawing or sample availability.
Material and order
Specified plastic and exact grade, required documents, quantity, repeat needs and requested timing. For an existing part, include reliable records and identify worn or unknown features.
