CDS's machined-component offer includes spacers for OEM equipment. Submit a drawing, specification or existing-part records for a new part, customer-specified revision or replacement.
For a nonstandard length, profile or material, the individual spacer specification establishes the machining requirement. A suitable catalogue part may already meet a standard requirement.
Length, bore and end faces
A spacer separates other parts by its finished length or thickness. The part drawing defines that dimension and the remaining features to be machined.
- Length runs between the specified end faces.
- Bore has the opening dimensions on the part drawing.
- Outside diameter defines the outer cylindrical surface.

Finished length
Show the required overall length or thickness between the specified end faces. Identify reference surfaces and any flatness, parallelism or finish callouts.
Opening and outside profile
The bore, outside diameter or shaped profile needs its own dimensions and tolerances. Show multiple diameters or openings in the appropriate drawing views.
Additional drawing features
Shoulders, flanges, counterbores and slots are part of the customer-defined geometry. Provide their sizes and locations to confirm the machining scope.
Reproducing an existing spacer
An old print, equipment part record or unworn spare can provide dimensions missing from a used spacer. Identify the exact part and current revision.
Worn faces and reliable dimensions
Reverse engineering documents existing-part geometry for manufacture. Compressed ends, distorted bores, chips or repairs may no longer preserve the required length or profile.
Mark damaged features and provide known dimensions when available. Customer-specified changes require an updated drawing; unresolved dimensions need clarification before machining.
Your specified material
Give the complete plastic grade, required brand or filler and permitted substitutions. For a replacement, include the existing material record if available. Appearance alone does not establish the grade.
CDS confirms material availability and machining scope for the particular spacer. List any material, inspection or other documentation requirements for confirmation.

Start with a drawing, specification, dimensioned sketch or details of an available sample. Identify each spacer and required length separately.
Spacer definition
Part number, revision, length or thickness, bore and outside profile. Include shoulders or recesses, specified tolerances, finish and reliable sample dimensions.
Material and records
Exact grade, required brand or filler, permitted substitutions and requested documents. Identify unresolved dimensions or material requirements.
Order details
Quantity by part and length, repeat needs, requested timing and previous CDS order. Machining scope, material availability and timing are confirmed for the quotation.
