Machinable plastics
PVDF (Kynar) Machining
CDS’s custom-machined manifold offer includes PVDF. For a dosing or fluid-path part exposed to demanding chemistry, the exact grade, passages, connections and seals need to suit the operating conditions.
Kynar is Arkema’s PVDF resin brand. Preserve the drawing’s full material callout and confirm branded grade requirements and any permitted alternatives.
Chemical exposure includes more than the process fluid
For a dosing or fluid-path part, concentration, temperature, exposure time and mechanical stress can change compatibility. The exact PVDF grade needs evaluation under the full service conditions.
- Fluid and mixtures
- Incoming fluid, contaminants, abrasive solids, reaction products and changing concentrations may expose the material to different conditions.
- Temperature and cycling
- Normal operation, startup, excursions, cleaning and sterilization can impose different temperatures and exposure durations.
- Pressure and mechanical load
- Pressure or vacuum, cycling, mounting loads and constraint affect the finished body alongside chemistry.
- Resin and stock shape
- PVDF is the polymer family; Kynar is Arkema’s PVDF resin brand. Resin grade, stock-shape product and permitted equivalents need to remain connected.
A named resin’s data does not establish the properties or acceptance of every stock shape. Exact manufacturer and grade information are especially useful when the drawing requires Kynar.
Ports and seals change the finished-part requirements
Connections, passages and surrounding material
- Port connectionThe connection has to match the mating component.
- Internal passageThe passage arrangement defines how the ports connect.
- Seal seatThe contact geometry must suit the selected seal and exposure.
- Supporting wallMaterial around passages and ports is part of the finished-body design.
- Passages and connections
- The common and branch passages establish which ports connect. Port orientation and the specified thread or connection must match the mating components.
- Seals and supporting walls
- Seal contact, wall sections, mounting and load influence the body’s behavior. A material datasheet does not provide a pressure or temperature rating for the ported part.
The custom-machined manifold page covers passage maps, connections and finished geometry. CDS confirms machining feasibility against your specified PVDF grade, passage geometry and dimensional requirements.
Material documents must match the fluid service
Required purity, cleanliness, food-contact, flame or electrical documents need to identify the applicable resin or stock shape, use conditions and acceptance scope. A material-level statement does not certify a finished manifold.
Traceability, inspection and testing requirements should be identified by name. No blanket FDA, NSF, USP, high-purity or finished-part rating follows from “PVDF.”
Replacing an existing manifold
A drawing, specification, sketch or physical sample can start the discussion. Leaks, cracks near ports, distortion or discoloration help describe its condition, but cannot establish chemical attack, original grade or unworn geometry.
Comparing another material
CPVC, polypropylene, PVC, PTFE and PEEK are other materials named in the manifold offer. Compare them against the same chemistry, temperature, pressure, geometry and documentation requirements.
Your PVDF (Kynar) machining quote
Share your drawing and revision, or the available records for an existing part. CDS quotes machining against your specified material and finished-part requirements.
- Part requirements: Passage map, port and connection callouts, seal recesses, wall sections and mounting holes, with specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Specified material: Resin and stock-shape grade, required Kynar manufacturer/product callout and permitted equivalents.
- Order and records: Quantity or useful quantity tiers, requested date and required material, inspection or traceability documents. Identify any specified tests for confirmation with the quote.
