CDS machines plastic timing gears and belt pulleys from customer drawings, specifications or existing parts. Request a new part, replacement or repeat quantity with the required tooth and mounting geometry.
Timing gears here means synchronous belt pulleys. A chain-driven component belongs with sprockets.
The tooth profile and machined center
A synchronous pulley has teeth specified for its mating belt system. The complete profile designation belongs with the drawing; matching nominal pitch alone does not identify the required tooth form.
- Tooth form comes from the specified synchronous profile system.
- Working width is a dimension of the pulley body.
- Bore has its own size, tolerance and center relationship.
Symbolic tooth detail and a separate axial section of the pulley body. These identify machining features; no standard tooth geometry, belt fit or supplied hardware is established.
- Tooth form and count
- Provide the specified profile system, pitch and tooth count, together with the belt manufacturer's exact designation when available. The required profile must be identified before machining.
- Face width and flange details
- The drawing defines the working width, overall width and any flange geometry. Identify separate flange or other hardware supply when requesting the quote.
- Bore, hub and keyway
- Show center dimensions, steps, keyways, holes and other specified features. Include their tolerances and required relationships to the toothed profile.
Identify the component being ordered
A sheave has a groove for a non-toothed belt or rope. A container timing wheel is a separate part inquiry. Drawings and part numbers help distinguish these names.
Replacement pulleys from existing parts
A pulley sample can start a replacement request when the original drawing is missing. A part number, old print and belt designation help establish what needs to be reproduced.
Existing dimensions and worn features
CDS offers reverse engineering of existing parts. Identify damaged teeth, worn bores, altered hubs and any reliable dimensions or unworn references.
A sample may retain its overall shape while losing the original tooth profile. Unknown geometry and material requirements need clarification before manufacture.
Revisions and repeat orders
Provide an updated drawing for customer-specified changes. For a repeat order, use the current part number, revision and previous CDS reference, with the quantities required.
Specify the pulley material
The quotation uses your required plastic and exact grade. Identify a controlled brand, filler or permitted substitution, and include any existing material record for a replacement.
CDS confirms the material and machining requirements for the individual pulley. Separate inserts, bushings and other hardware need their own supply confirmation.
Required grade documentation
If the specification includes magnetic, static-control, detection or food-contact requirements, provide the exact designation and documents requested. A base resin name or color does not establish a special grade.

Pulley definition
Part number and revision; tooth profile, pitch and count; face width and flange details; bore, hub and keyway; required tolerances, finish and dimensional relationships.
Material and references
Exact plastic grade, required brand or filler, permitted substitutions and required records. Include the belt designation and identify worn or unknown sample features.
Order details
Quantity by pulley or revision, repeat needs, requested timing, previous CDS order reference and any separate hardware to be quoted.
