Gasket definition
Drawing or standard and revision, complete profile, thickness, openings, hole pattern and machined details. Include tolerances, finish and reliable sample dimensions.
Machining requests for nonstandard profiles, obsolete gaskets and specified part features.
CDS machines custom plastic components, including PTFE gaskets for OEM, pharmaceutical-equipment and water-filtration applications. Send your gasket drawing or existing-part records to confirm the exact geometry, material and manufacturing scope.
A gasket fits between fixed mating faces. The machining request concerns the gasket's own shape and dimensions, as defined by the customer drawing or specification.
Example gasket face and separate edge view. Holes and other machined features follow the customer drawing. No joint assembly, compression or fastening procedure is shown.
For a ring, identify the inside and outside diameters. For a shaped gasket, provide the full outline, ports and cutouts with their dimensions.
Specify the hole pattern, thickness and any steps, grooves, counterbores or sealing lands. Tolerances, flatness and surface finish requirements belong on the part drawing for confirmation.
Identify any governing drawing or standard and its revision. A named standard is not automatically a CDS manufacturing or inspection default.
A nonstandard profile or component with additional machined features can be submitted for quotation. CDS confirms the manufacturing approach for the specified geometry and stock form.
For a catalogue gasket set or sheet-cut gasket, contact CDS to confirm whether the requested supply is available.
A gasket sample, old drawing or equipment part record can start a replacement request. Identify the component and any previous CDS order.
Reverse engineering documents existing parts for manufacture. A used gasket may be compressed, torn or distorted, so its present thickness and outline may differ from the original part.
Mark intact features and provide known dimensions, an unworn spare or older print. Missing dimensions and unknown material requirements need clarification before machining.
Identify the required drawing revision. Customer-specified changes need an updated part definition so the replacement and later orders use the same requirements.
For a PTFE gasket, provide the complete compound callout, including any required brand, filler or permitted substitution. CDS confirms the grade, stock form and machining scope for the quotation.
Use an existing material record where available. The appearance of a used gasket does not identify its exact grade.
PTFE material and machining informationState any material, food-contact, traceability or inspection documents required with the part. For a specified detectable grade, include the manufacturer and exact material designation.
Detectable gasket-grade availability requires CDS confirmation. Food-contact documentation and detector response depend on the exact formulation and application; the word detectable does not establish either.
Detectable-plastic requirements and documentationStart with the drawing, specification, dimensioned sketch or details of an available gasket. Identify the part to be manufactured.
Drawing or standard and revision, complete profile, thickness, openings, hole pattern and machined details. Include tolerances, finish and reliable sample dimensions.
Exact grade, controlled brand or filler, permitted substitutions and required documentation. Flag any material or dimensional requirements still unknown.
Quantity now, repeat need, requested timing and previous CDS order reference. The specific machining scope and timing are confirmed with the quotation.
