Body profile, grooves and connections
A piston is the moving body that carries a seal or sealing geometry through a bore. The machining request concerns the piston itself, with each feature defined on the part drawing.
- Body diameter defines the outer cylindrical surface.
- Groove has specified width, depth and location.
- Connection bore has its own dimensions and relationship to the body.

- Body dimensions
- Outside diameters, overall length, shoulders, end faces and any internal opening describe the component. Specify tolerances and the reference surfaces used to locate its features.
- Grooves and sealing lands
- Required groove widths, depths, radii and locations are part dimensions. Identify any sealing lands and their surface-finish requirements on the drawing.
- Connection details
- Bores, threads, pin holes, flats and other end details need their own dimensions. Separate seals, guide rings or hardware require confirmation if requested with the machined body.

Reproducing an existing piston
An old print, part number or available piston can start a replacement request when the current drawing is missing. Identify the equipment and the individual component required.
Intact features and known dimensions
Reverse engineering documents an existing part's geometry for manufacture. Mark worn diameters, damaged grooves, distorted sections and repairs. These areas may no longer represent the original piston.
Provide reliable dimensions, an unworn spare or older drawing where available. Missing dimensions and unknown material requirements need clarification before machining.
Customer revisions and repeat orders
For a changed piston, supply the updated drawing and revision. For repeat work, identify the current part number, previous CDS order and quantity needed.
Your specified plastic and grade
The piston material comes from your part specification. Provide the full grade designation, required brand or filler and any permitted substitution. For an existing part, include its material record if available.
CDS confirms material availability and the machining scope for the specified geometry. The appearance of a used piston does not establish its exact grade.
Required documentation
Identify material, food-contact, traceability or inspection records required with the order. Their availability and scope need confirmation for the specified material and part.
If a detectable piston is specified, include the exact grade and detection requirement. A CDS configuration and grade remain subject to confirmation; material color does not establish detector response or food-contact status.

Request a piston machining quote
Start with the current drawing, specification, dimensioned sketch or details of an available piston. Identify the component to be manufactured.
Piston definition
Part number and revision, body diameters and length, grooves, sealing lands and connection features. Include specified tolerances, surface finish and reliable sample dimensions.
Material and records
Exact grade, required brand or filler, permitted substitutions and documentation. Identify any separate seals or hardware and flag unresolved part requirements.
Order details
Quantity now, repeat quantities, requested timing and previous CDS order reference. Timing and the specific manufacturing and supply scope are confirmed with the quotation.
