Plastic valve-spool machining inquiries
For an individual spool with customer-defined geometry and material.
Send your spool drawing or specification to CDS for machining review. CDS machines engineered plastics; acceptance of the particular valve element, exact grade and required tolerances must be confirmed for your request.
Land diameters, grooves and end features
A valve spool is a shaft-like element with raised cylindrical lands separated by grooves. Its drawing defines the individual element to be machined.
- Land has a specified diameter, width and location.
- Groove has separately defined width, depth and edges.
- Connection end follows the customer-defined geometry.

- The complete profile
- Specify land diameters and widths, groove depths and widths, and their locations along the element. Required edges, radii and transitions need explicit callouts.
- Form and finish
- Identify the reference surfaces, tolerances, form and finish required for each feature. Overall length and a nominal outside diameter alone do not describe the complete spool.
- End details
- Threads, bores, shoulders, slots or other connection features belong on the part drawing with their dimensions and locations.

Existing spool records and specified material
A drawing, old part record or available spool can start a replacement inquiry. Identify the exact element and the required revision.
Documenting remaining features
Reverse engineering records existing-part geometry for manufacture. Worn lands, damaged edges or distorted sections may no longer show their original dimensions.
Provide intact reference features, reliable dimensions, an older print or unworn spare where available. Missing dimensions and unknown requirements need clarification before machining. A revised element requires the customer's updated drawing.
Customer-specified polymer and grade
Provide the full material designation, any required brand or filler, permitted substitutions and material records. CDS must confirm acceptance and machining feasibility of that exact material and spool geometry.
Required inspection, material documents or finished-element tests must be identified for confirmation. Machining review does not establish valve pressure, leakage or cycle-life ratings.

Start with a drawing, specification, dimensioned sketch or details of an available sample. Identify the individual spool needed.
Element definition
Part number and revision, land and groove dimensions, length and end details. Include specified form, tolerances, finish and reliable sample dimensions.
Material and records
Exact polymer grade, required brand or filler, permitted substitutions and requested inspection or material documents. Flag any unresolved requirements.
Order details
Quantity, repeat needs, requested timing and previous CDS order reference. Acceptance of the element, manufacturing scope and timing need confirmation.
