Internal geometry
Show the opening shape, diameter or profile, depth and any internal shoulder. Identify the specified fit and tolerance callouts on the cap drawing.
Machining inquiries for a customer-specified protective cover or replacement.
CDS machines engineered plastics and documents existing parts for replacement. Send your cap drawing, specification or sample records to confirm the particular configuration, material and machining scope.
For a closure that must retain process fluid or pressure, see sealing caps.
A protective cap covers another feature. Its individual part drawing defines the cap body, internal opening and any specified retention features.
Section of an illustrative plain protective cap. No mating component, fit allowance, retention method or sealing construction is shown. The actual configuration requires confirmation from the part drawing.
Show the opening shape, diameter or profile, depth and any internal shoulder. Identify the specified fit and tolerance callouts on the cap drawing.
Outside dimensions, overall length, wall and end thickness, radii and reliefs describe the body to be machined. Include any customer-specified removal or retention geometry.
Names such as cover, cap and plug can refer to different shapes. Use the drawing, part number or labeled sample to identify the requested item and confirm its manufacturing scope.
A standard catalogue cover may already match your requirement. For a custom geometry, specified grade or unavailable replacement, submit the part records for a machining quotation. Catalogue supply requires separate confirmation.
An old drawing, equipment part record or unworn spare can help document a cap that is no longer available. Identify the cap itself and any separately requested pieces.
Reverse engineering documents existing-part geometry for manufacture. Worn openings, cracked edges, stripped features and distorted surfaces may no longer retain the required dimensions.
Mark damaged areas and provide known dimensions where available. Customer-specified changes require an updated drawing; unknown dimensions or material requirements need clarification before machining.
Give the full plastic grade, required brand or filler and permitted substitutions. Existing material records are useful for replacements; the covered component's material does not establish the cap material.
CDS confirms material availability and machining scope for the individual cap. List any required material, inspection or other documents for confirmation.
A roller end may contain separate caps, shafts, bearings or inserts. Identify which individual component is requested and provide its own dimensions and material specification.
See plastic rollers for the related component offer. Confirm the particular end-piece machining and any separate hardware supply with CDS.
Start with a drawing, specification, dimensioned sketch or details of an available sample. Identify the individual protective cap and current revision.
Opening profile and depth, overall dimensions, shoulders and retention features. Include specified tolerances, finish, reliable sample dimensions and customer-defined changes.
Exact plastic grade, required brand or filler, permitted substitutions and requested documents. Identify unresolved requirements and any separately requested pieces.
Quantity now, repeat needs, requested timing and previous CDS order reference. Configuration, machining scope, material availability and timing require confirmation.
