For a replacement, identify the exact ring required. A custom plastic ring and a standard spring-metal circlip are different components.
Ring features for machining
Retainer-ring drawings can call for different sections, profiles and fastening features. Your drawing identifies the part CDS is being asked to manufacture.
- Bore is the inside opening.
- Outside profile defines the ring envelope.
- Section shows the material between the bore, outside profile and faces.

Inside and outside diameters
Provide the bore and outside diameter, including any stepped diameters, shoulders or shaped profile shown on the drawing.
Section and faces
Specify the ring thickness or axial length, face geometry and required finish. Include the drawing's flatness, parallelism or other dimensional requirements.
Additional features
Identify mounting holes, slots, recesses, splits or other features. CDS confirms machining feasibility for the specified construction and material.
Drawings and existing parts
Start with the records or part you have. CDS can quote drawing-based machining, repeat work or an existing-part replacement.
Machine to your current drawing
Your drawing and material specification establish the manufacturing requirements. CDS checks machining feasibility against those requirements and confirms the scope before the work proceeds.
Use the latest approved revision. Mark any missing dimensions or unknown material information so it can be clarified before manufacture.
Repeat a previous CDS part
A part number or previous order reference helps identify the ring already made. Tell CDS whether the specification is unchanged or a new drawing revision applies.

Current drawing or specification, part number and revision; dimensions, tolerances, finish and required construction. For a replacement, identify whether an existing ring is available.

Quantity by size or revision, repeat requirement and requested timing. Include a previous CDS order reference when applicable.
